Hi Everyone . I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. A very active member of Deep House community, Berkand is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, amateur pianist, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically. I was born 49 years ago and have been close to music since childhood. As a young man, I decided I wanted to become a DJ. **My professional start** came in 1993. That’s when I fully committed to mixing and creating music for discos and club events. My distinctive style and energetic performances quickly won me popularity, and I gradually became a familiar face in the local club circuit. **During my career**, I had the amazing opportunity to travel and perform on various stages. These experiences enriched me immensely, not just musically but also as a person. I learned to feel the crowd’s energy, and my mixing skills became my trademark, propelling me to the top of the local DJ scene. **After years spent in the prime of my career**, I felt in 2008 that it was time for a change. I decided to end my active DJ career and devote myself to other interests and responsibilities. Though I no longer play at major events today, my passion for music and mixing still burns within me. **I’m still part of** our local music community, and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved for DJ culture. I started spinning back in the early eighties, purely 12". I have been all throughout the industry from Mobile, Club, After Hours and back to Mobile.....still missing Club Play. I still keep up with the tunes and still enjoy my own mixes in my ride..... A huge thanks for everyone who took the time to check out my mixes. I think that it is awesome that I am able to reach out to so many people from around the world!! Music is meant to be shared with friends, it takes you to places and times that sometimes you cannot explain. Thank you to everyone else out there who is sharing their skills! The best comment that I have ever had yet was from someone who said that my Club Mix inspired them to get back into spinning :). I've been mixing music since about 1998... These days, it's just a hobby. Once a month or so, I download a bunch of tracks and make a fresh mix out of them. Generally, I like to play 3 or 4 different types of house music (classic, funky, bass, disco, electro, melodic, tech, progressive and hard!) and also some techno and trance. I hope you dig it! Favorite DJs: Bad Boy Bill and Richard "Humpty" Vission are the two that inspired me to want to get into DJing. They will always be the best to me. Bang Bang!!
